In Japan in the year 1600, at the dawn of a century-defining civil war, Lord Yoshii Toranaga is fighting for his life as his enemies on the Council of Regents unite against him, when a mysterious European ship is found marooned in a nearby fishing village.

This is gorgeous television. The costumes, sets, and acting of the historical period are all phenomenal. This show simply shows dedication to detail and money. So with only two episodes, I can say that this show will hook you almost immediately and for fans of Japan and its ancient culture, this is almost a The movie is not to be missed.

Knowing in the book the casting is almost perfect or at least pretty close to it.Lady Mariko may not look like I imagined in the book, but the actress still gives a good performance and I appreciate this movie for its commendable effort in portraying the vast world and complex from James Clavell’s wonderful historical novel.

However, the book may be too large to fit in the tight space of a television series. For obvious reasons, the program participants had to carefully consider everything explained and described in detail in the book. To be fair to the book, it took nearly two television seasons to show John Blackthorne’s story before he reached Osaka. Much of the underlying conflict and the fragile web of diplomacy and intrigue that the main characters must navigate are disrupted in the television series. There’s also a strange shift in perspective from the book. While the involvement of Portuguese foreigners in early 17th-century Japanese politics is considered only one aspect of the internal power struggle in Japan, the television series almost brought Portuguese Portugal plays the series’ main antagonist in the first two episodes. . I hope the series will return to the Japan-centric story it should be.

Conclusion: This is a good TV show, but ultimately I recommend reading the book.
